Just remember, if it doesn’t sound quite right at first, don’t give up. Practice makes perfect! Ok, so you may not be an expert quite yet, but with these tips and some quality practice, you’ll be a recorder master in no time.Learning any song you want will be much easier once you have a basic understanding of all the notes your recorder can make.Using the chart below, give these simple tunes a try: Work on learning which combination of fingers produces each note, and vice versa – which note you are producing based on your fingers. Some recorders will come with a fingering chart like the one below, if yours didn’t, they are very easy to find on the internet. Keep working on your B until you’re comfortable moving on to a new note. How does it sound? If you hear squeaking, make sure your fingers are fully covering the holes and that you’re not blowing too hard. Now, gently blow into the recorder, remembering to focus on a steady air flow from your diaphragm and mouthing a “doot” or “dud”. All you have to do to sound a B is to cover the back hole with your left thumb and the very first hole (closest to your body) with your left index finger. Imagine you are saying “doot” or “dud” as you play the note – this will help give your notes a clear beginning and end.Īt this point you’re ready to play your first note. Each note you play should start and stop with your tongue. Your tongue is the most important tool you have to play the recorder. Focus on breathing from your diaphragm, not your mouth – this will help you keep the sound consistent. Try to produce a smooth, consistent air flow to get a more musical sound – this is one of the most difficult, but important techniques to focus on as you begin to learn the recorder. Don’t blow too hard or it will sound very harsh and unpleasant. Next, blow into the recorder and see what kind of sound you get. Hold it gently between your lips and balance with your fingers – don’t bite the mouthpiece or touch it to your teeth. Make sure the side of the mouthpiece with the hole is facing upwards (towards your face). Your left hand should be positioned closest to your body. Like all woodwinds, the sound produced is heavily influenced by how the instrument interacts with your mouth and hands. Once you have your recorder, the next step is making sure you’re holding it properly. Learn how to hold the recorder and make sound. If you follow these easy rules your recorder should last a lifetime. Maintaining a recorder is very simple: wipe it down after playing, disinfect whenever possible, keep it dry, and keep it in its protective case when not in use. They will almost always come with a protective sleeve or pouch and sometimes include an instructional book. West Music has a wide selection of inexpensive plastic recorders – this is a great place to start – eventually you can move up to a full wood model. Learn how to play recorder like a master! Anyone can learn the recorder by following these 5 easy steps: Its size and ease of use makes it a great first instrument for beginners or anyone with a desire to make a sound of their own. The recorder is a woodwind instrument similar to the clarinet and flute that produces a soft, airy tone. Let West Music Show You How To Play The Recorder

The most surprising thing to me is that Harvard, MIT, Yale and other notable institutions didn’t make the list…not even close. With that being said, I did come across a few diamonds in the rough. Especially since it is often the first thing that people see when researching their education. With tuition prices always on the rise, and the ever-growing importance having a strong online identity, I really feel that an Institution’s website should be a priority. The most common things I found were homepages that were extremely wordy and navigation systems that were far too complex. I wanted to see what some of the higher profile universities and colleges were doing with their sites, but my findings were that most of them were completely outdated from a design standpoint, and not overly usable. Recently, I spent time doing some research for a project that consisted of re-designing a website for an educational institution. The app allows users to access their Steam library remotely, and even supports peripherals like the Steam controller. The Steam Link app, compatible with Android devices only, does many of the same things that the device itself does - which sounds more cost-effective for Valve than producing the less popular hardware. “Moving forward, Valve intends to continue supporting the existing Steam Link hardware as well as distribution of the software versions of Steam Link, available for many leading smart phones, tablets and televisions.” The streaming box will continue to live on through mobile devices, Valve says. Valve has previously sold the Steam Link at clearance prices - as low as $2.50 - to move hardware. The Steam Link costs $49.99, while the bundle is 10 percent off at $89.98. You can still buy the Steam Link on its own or a bundle that includes the Steam controller through the Steam storefront. “The supply of physical Steam Link hardware devices is sold out in Europe and almost sold out in the US,” the post reads. Valve didn’t explicitly say that it would no longer make the Steam Link, instead heavily implying that the boxes currently available will be the last of them. The company announced just yesterday on the hardware’s community news page that it has discontinued the Steam Link - and the remaining stock is already dwindling. However, since this is a federal law, some individual states outline their own specific penalties. The law enables a fine and up to five years in jail for anyone who “buys, receives, or conceals, or unlawfully has in his possession” any piece of mail that isn’t theirs. In United States law, the handling of mail is addressed in U.S. Did you know that tossing out someone else’s mail is a felony? Despite efforts by the USPS® to reduce undeliverable mail, it still costs the postal service $1.5 billion every year. According to a recent survey that we conducted,* 55-59% of movers regularly receive mail addressed to previous residents of their home. But for every person who intentionally mishandles mail and makes headlines, there are many more who accidentally break the law just by failing to properly forward the wrong address mail they receive.Ī main cause of mail being delivered to the wrong address is former owners or tenants who haven’t properly updated their information. In 2018, a postal worker received felony and misdemeanor charges for failing to deliver thousands of pieces of mail that he later dumped in a ravine. In fact, seven people were arrested in Georgia for stealing mail and cashing the checks they found. Most people receive a number of personal and confidential documents through the mail that can be used to steal their identity. There’s a reason that the federal government makes tampering with mail illegal. 7/22/2023 0 Comments Does sugar absorb waterDoes Sugar Water Help Plants Grow Faster?Īmid all the studies that have been conducted, the use of sugar helps the plants only when they come directly from the plant itself (meaning that the plants like their own self-made sugar that they created through photosynthesis). This idea, though, has been completely falsified by many studies that have been conducted - there is no correlation between sugar use and the overall growth of plants. The plants then use these carbohydrates to strengthen their roots, new proteins, or general storage.īased on the process of photosynthesis, the use of sugar is suggested because it is believed that plants can produce sugars, so they should act as an extra benefit when watering them. In combination with the carbon dioxide and the water, the chloroplasts can metabolize the carbon dioxide and create carbohydrates (made from sugars and various starches). Plants basically use the much-needed energy from the sun. Why Do Plants Need Sugar? Does It Help Them Grow? But is sugar water good for plants? The wheels and tyres were an eleventh-hour acquisition. The solution was TJM’s rear protection step and tow bar combination which conveniently comes with slots for all the sensors, including lane departure detectors, and makes fitting the tray much more straightforward. Of course, when it’s all factory installed, there should be no arguments if there’s a problem.Īs we intended to remove the tub and install a custom tray, these sensors required a home. Sure, most of the aftermarket wiring kits claim to do the same thing, but if there’s an issue down the track Isuzu will blame the aftermarket component and vice versa. So we opted for the factory tow bar wiring harness as it’s more or less a plug-and-play option that automatically turns off the rear sensors when the trailer’s light lead is connected to the socket. The latest incarnation of Isuzu’s IDAS driver assistance system means more sensors do more things, and messing around with them will ultimately cause you more grief than you can imagine, and result in plenty of unwanted error messages and annoying warning ‘pings’. I have this theory: oil and grease are cheap, while parts and breakdowns are expensive. I’m very particular about the maintenance, and they get oil and filter changes a little more frequently than the Isuzu service book suggests. I’ve driven them around Australia for work and pleasure, and thankfully, they all performed faultlessly. So, we’ll need a vehicle capable of towing a decent-sized caravan, for starters…ĭeciding on the vehicle model was relatively easy because I’ve had an Isuzu D-MAX ute in one form or another for the past quarter of a century, both dual-cabs and space-cabs. Those jet age taillights, squared off roofline, and angled finlets were bound to make the Thunderbird a sales success. Ford always got its money’s worth when it trimmed the T-Bird.Įven though I’m an avowed Riviera fanatic, I’m still susceptible to the charms of the Bullet Bird, as evidenced by my perusing this ’63 on an Upper Peninsula vacation a few years ago. Thunderbird interiors were always luxurious and well-styled, with wraparound dashboards and back seats, consoles and buckets, swing-away steering wheels and attractive instrumentation. Perhaps the interior played an even more important role in the T-Bird’s success than its unique styling. The T-Bird’s styling and relative exclusivity in its size bracket created a car that, again, really had no direct competition until this ’63 model came along. The T-Bird had “it.”Īfter the Squarebird came the Bullet Bird, which retained the Thunderbird roofline but introduced styling cues from some old Ford “dream cars,” like the X-100. Some people just have “it,” and so do some cars. Even so, its more compact dimensions and quality build, along with its interesting styling, gave it an undeniable presence. The “Squarebird” had nice proportions, for sure, even if it arguably paled stylistically in comparison to the next two generations. Therefore, one must assume that the Thunderbird’s styling had much to do with its success. Ford, recognizing its own success, even copied the T-Bird’s roofline for certain Galaxie and Falcon models, creating the “Thunderbird look,” a move that could have diluted the image, but probably helped overall sales instead. It looked special, and nobody else had anything like it.įord beat GM to the punch surprisingly often in certain market segments, the T-Bird, Mustang, and LTD being examples of “better ideas” that sent GM scrambling for their drawing boards. When Ford introduced the four-seater ‘Bird for 1958, sales immediately exploded because Ford had made its dream car practical. It was unlike any other Ford or Mercury, and it was luxurious and attractive. Most likely, its popularity stemmed from its attainable distinctiveness. What accounted for this cachet? Why was the T-Bird such a special thing? (first posted ) Have you ever considered how odd it is that Ford, that manufacturer of solid, reliable, conservative transportation, produced a true competitor to Cadillac and Lincoln? The T-Bird, at least until the mid-1960s, was a status symbol for the rich and moderately well-off, a thing of beauty that really had a market all to itself until the Riviera came along in 1963 and even then, the T-Bird sold in greater numbers. 7/21/2023 0 Comments Clean macro mealsOther titles in the series include: Adaptogens, The CBD Handbook, The Complete Guide to Self-Care, Air Fryer Instant Pot Cookbook, and The Plant-Based Cookbook.
